WASHINGTON (March 30, 2024) – Wagner College (WC) defeated the Howard University women's lacrosse team, 19-8, thanks to a big second half.
WC (3-6, 3-2 NEC) outscored the Bison, 8-2, after intermission.
Fifth-year Bison
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrollton, Md.), junior
Maya Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.) and sophomore
Chase Coleman (Houston) each tallied two goals in the loss.
In the first period, Wagner scored the first four goals before Skeete-Ridley got HU on the board, thanks to an assist from Rhymes, 4-1.
Wagner responded with three more scores and took a 7-2 advantage after one.
Both squads registered four goals apiece in the second, but the Seahawks took a 11-6 halftime lead.
Skeete-Ridley produced her second goal of the day after intermission, but WC extended its lead going into the fourth, 14-7.
In the final frame, Wagner mustered five more scores while Rhymes added another goal to her stat line.
Sophomore
Tea Vasquez (Oakland, Calif.) registered four ground balls while junior
Logan Ford (Charlotte, N.C.) notched nine saves in a losing effort.
Kelsey Scheidel led the Seahawks with eight points (six goals & two assists), three draw controls and two ground balls in the victory.
The Bison go back on the road to face Merrimack College in conference play Saturday (April 6) with a noon start time. Fans can watch the game on the NEC Front Row website.
