CARY, N.C. (March 24, 2024) – Howard University men's tennis team fell to North Carolina Central (NCCU), 5-2, in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Round Up Finale at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
NCCU took the early match lead, winning all three doubles contests.
In singles play, senior
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) served in the No. 3 position where he defeated North Carolina Central's Leo Fortier in three sets (6-7, 6-1, 1-0 [10-5]).
Rookie
Michael Major, Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) won set one, 6-1, and led in game two, 2-1, before earning the match victory due to retirement from NCCU's Kareem Abdul Hakim.
D.C. native
Daniel Dunac battled, but dropped a tough, three-set match to the Eagles' Lucas Artigas (5-7, 7-5, 0-1).
On April 3, Howard goes to Newark, Del., to face Delaware. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
