CARY, N.C. (March 23, 2024) – Senior
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) earned his fourth singles win of the season, but the Howard University men's tennis team dropped its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matchup against reigning league champion South Carolina State (SCSU), 6-1, at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
Cadeau enters singles play in the No. 3 slot for HU where he knocked off South Carolina State's Aissa Benchakroun in three sets (7-5, 2-6, 1-0).
Freshman
Michael Major, Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) competed in the No. 2 position, falling in three sets to SCSU's Mikalai Bankou (0-6, 6-4, 2-6).
South Carolina State won the other singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles competition, Cadeau and Major teamed up as the club's top doubles duo where they took down SCSU's Bechakroun and Benjamin Niv, 6-2.
Despite their success, South Carolina State (8-5, 2-0 MEAC) managed to win the other two doubles match.
Sunday (March 24), Howard (3-8, 0-2 MEAC) wraps up the weekend against North Carolina Central. Match time is slated for noon.
