WASHINGTON - The Bison (0-15, NEC 0-8) posted their highest score of the season Saturday afternoon in a 22-10 loss to the Stonehill Skyhawks.
HU kept Stonehill at bay the first few minutes until the Skyhawks broke out with three quick goals for a 3-0 lead. The Bison retaliated with two goals of their own with transfer
Marley Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.) bringing the Bison within one, 3-2.
The first quarter saw heavy scoring as
Chase Coleman (Houston, Texas) posted two for the Bison and the Skyhawks finished with a 9-4 advantage.
The second quarter was slower paced seeing a 6-3 run of action with
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrollton, Md.),
Mikayla Mack (Bowie, Md.), and
Maya Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.) notching points for the Bison, 15-7. Mack highlighted the frame posting her second and final unassisted goal.
Skeete-Ridley opened the scoring in the third frame with an unassisted shot to the net.
Marley Rhymes continued to close the gap less than two minutes later for a 15-9 board.
The Skyhawks went on an unanswered four-point run to close the third with a 19-9 lead to run the clock in the final quarter.
The Skyhawks tacked on three more goals in the fourth before
Marley Rhymes closed it out with a hat trick to end the day with the Bison's highest score of the season, 22-10.
The matchup saw 15 penalties allowing the Bison to gain three points when man up.
Junior
Marley Rhymes marked her first hat trick as a Bison. Fellow junior
Logan Ford faced 38 shots making six saves throughout the full sixty minutes.
The Bison return to action on Wednesday, March 6th at 1:30 PM when they face Central Connecticut on the road.
