PHILADELPHIA (March 15, 2024) – Howard University women's tennis team extended its win streak after another road victory at Saint Joseph's (SJU), 4-2.
With the win, HU moved to 5-7 while pushing its win streak to three.
Howard controlled the contest early on, winning two doubles matches.
Junior
Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.) and freshman
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) served as the club's No. 1 doubles team, defeating SJU's Victoria Tracey and Fabiana Tort-Umpierre, 7-5.
Third-year Bison
Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and sophomore
Selah Stibbins (Minneapolis) cruised to victory, blanking the Amato sisters (Ireland & Sophia), 6-0.
In singles play, Grayson, Pegram and fellow classmate
Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) won their respective contests in straight sets.
On March 22-24, Howard goes to Cary, N.C., for the annual Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Round Up. Friday (March 22), HU opens the three-day event against reigning MEAC champion South Carolina State at noon.
