BALTIMORE (March 13, 2024) – Howard University women's tennis team secured a big road win, knocking off Loyola (Md.), 4-3, at the McClure Tennis Center in Baltimore.
With the win, HU improved to 4-7 overall while the Greyhounds suffered their first loss of the season (4-1).
Howard trailed early on in the match, dropping all three doubles matches.
HU rallied to win four singles contests, led by All-MEAC selection junior
Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.). The Florida native defeated Loyola's Olivia Tracey in straight sets (6-4, 6-2), serving in the No. 1 position.
Fellow classmate
Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and freshmen
Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) and
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also won their respective singles matches in straight sets.
Friday (March 15), the Bison travel to Philadelphia to face Saint Joseph's. Match time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
