ANNAPOLIS, Md. (February 3, 2024) – Howard University men's tennis team fell on the road at Navy, 7-0.
With the setback, HU fell to 0-2 on the young season while the Midshipmen remain undefeated (7-0).
In doubles play, senior
Gabe Knowles (Allentown, Pa.) and junior
Daniel Dunac (Washington) dropped a close bout to Navy's Aaron Gu and Zach Quattro, 7-6 [8-6].
Navy took an early 1-0 match lead, winning all three doubles matches.
In singles competition, All-MEAC selection junior
Marcel Dawson (Columbus, Ga.) represented HU in the No. 1 spot, falling to Navy's Sasha Panyan in straight sets (0-6, 2-6).
Navy won the other five singles contests in straight sets.
On February 10, HU tennis program will face off against Mount Saint Mary's (Md.) in D.C., at WTEF- East Capitol Campus. Play is set to begin at noon.
