GENEVA, Ohio (February 23, 2024) – Howard University men's swimming & diving team slides down a spot at the Northeast (NEC) Championships.
Wagner College grabbed the top spot with 633 points, but HU is in striking distance (620.5 points) going into the final day.
Senior
Tristan Stevens (Chicago) earned silver in the 100 Back, clocking in at 48.68. Sophomore
Ty Triche (Humble, Texas) and junior
Erald Thompson III (Nassau, Bahamas) also competed, taking seventh (52.23) and eighth (52.30), respectively.
Third-year Bison
Darin Johnson (Atascocita, Texas) represented Bison Nation in the 100 Breast where he placed second overall (54.71). Seniors
Mark-Anthony Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) and
Niles Rankin (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) also took part, finishing sixth (55.72) and eighth (56.19), respectively.
Other notable performance included
Taj Benton (Baltimore) securing fifth overall in the 200 Fly with a 1:51.74 mark.
HU wraps up competition Saturday (Feb. 23) with prelims at 10 a.m., followed by the final round at 6 p.m.
