FAIRFAX, Va. (February 22, 2024) – Howard University women's lacrosse team suffered a setback at George Mason, 20-6.
Mason (5-0) opened the contest with a 10-3 advantage after one and never looked back.
Junior
Marley Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.) scored the lone goal for HU in the second while the Patriots tallied five to take a 15-3 halftime lead.
Howard (0-3) outscored Mason in the third period, thanks to a pair of goals from junior
Maya Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.), and cut into the deficit, 16-6.
In the fourth, George Mason held HU scoreless while adding four more goals.
Newcomer
Gabrielle Nelson (Cincinnati) racked up four draw controls, three ground balls, one goal and an assist.
Junior goalie
Logan Ford (Charlotte, N.C.) registered six saves in a losing effort.
For Mason, Shannon Tuozzo produced six points (five goals and one assist) in the victory.
Sunday (Feb. 25), the Bison will host Eastern Michigan University. Match time is set for noon at Greene Stadium and can be seen on NEC Front Row.
