UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (February 17, 2024) – Juniors
Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and
Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.) each earned singles victories Saturday afternoon, but the Howard University women's tennis squad dropped a tough 4-2 contest versus Villanova (VU) at the Watkins Tennis Bubble in Upper Marlboro, Md.
With the loss, HU saw its two-match win streak come to an end.
Grayson grabbed her first singles win of the season, defeating the Wildcats' Valieriia Kornieva in three sets (6-2, 4-6, 7-6).
Pegram took down VU's Emi Callahan in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).

Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and sophomore
Selah Stibbins (Minneapolis) dropped hard-fought three set contests while rookie
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) saw her matchup unfinished despite a 1-0 match advantage.
Villanova (2-6) held an early match lead after winning two doubles matches.
Grayson and Stibbins teamed up, serving as the club's No. 2 doubles team where they saw their match unfinished despite being tied, 4-4.
Friday (Feb. 23), HU (2-5) takes on crosstown rival Georgetown. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
