OKLAHOMA CITY (October 22, 2024) – Howard University golf program sent three Bison to Oklahoma City for the annual Jackson T. Stephens Cup. The two-day, 54-hole event was held at the Oklahoma City Golf Country Club.
Seniors
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) and
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas) and sophomore
Emily Mayne (Kingston, Jamaica) represented Bison Nation in the highly competitive event.
Smith finished 5-over par (215) while tying for 11
th in the player leaderboard. In the final round, he shot 3-under par (67).
Jackson tied for 13
th overall on the women's side, firing 13-over par (223) while Mayne registered 243 strokes (+33) in three rounds of action.
SMU's William Sides won the men's side, defeating Oklahoma State's Filip Fahlberg-Johnson in a playoff.
For the women, No.11 Carolina Chacarra (Wake Forest) claimed the individual medal (206, -4).
On Oct. 24-25, Howard goes to Atlanta for the Bridgestone HBCU Invitational.
