WASHINGTON (October 20, 2024) —Howard University women's soccer team posted its sixth victory Sunday afternoon, besting Central Connecticut State (CCSU), 1-0.
The win gives Howard a 6-4-5 overall record while moving to 5-1-1 in conference play. The Blue Devils fell to 4-9-1 (4-3 NEC).
Coming out of the half, reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Year
Samantha James (Herdon, Va.) made the lone difference in the 48
th minute when a bad pass from CCSU went straight to an awaiting James where she scored the go-ahead goal.
The Bison saw three more scoring opportunities - all finding their way into the hands of the keeper in goal.
Howard put the pressure on CCSU for the full 90 minutes, outshooting the opposition, 15-2, while utilizing seven corners to the Blue Devils' two.
HU returns to action Thursday (Oct. 24) at 3 p.m., when they travel to Brooklyn, N.Y., to face LIU.
