BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (October 16, 2024) – The Northeast Conference (NEC) unveiled its men's and women's swimming & diving weekly honors where Howard University had three Bison acknowledged for their efforts at the NJIT Invite, hosted by the Highlanders. The announcement came Wednesday afternoon.
Graduate
Tristan Stevens (Chicago) and sophomore
Chanice Posada (Houston) were selected NEC Men's and Women's Swimmers of the Week, respectively, while newcomer
Mark Brown (Greensboro, N.C.) took home the league's Rookie of the Week award.
Stevens continued his strong run, winning the 200 Back with a CSCAA B cut qualifier time of 1:50.91. The Chicago native also competed in the multiple relays, guiding the club to victory.
Posada won three individual events: 100 Back (56.65); 200 Back (2:07.14) and 100 Fly (57.26). In the 200 Medley Relay, she posted a CSCAA B cut qualifier time of 26.18 in the 50 Back while leading the team to gold.
Brown took part in both IM events: 200 IM (1:56.92) and 400 IM (4:17.94). The Tar Heel product ranks second in the conference both events.
Brown, Posada, Stevens made the NEC Prime Performers list, alongside five other Bison:
Tai Afrik (Holland, Mich.);
Taj Benton (Baltimore);
Jasmine Morgan (Chicago);
Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.) and
Erald Thompson III (Nassau, Bahamas).
Saint Francis' Taylor Weth earned NEC Women's Rookie of the Week.
Friday (Nov. 1), the Bison travel crosstown to meet American in a dual meet. First race is slated for 6 p.m.
