MATCHUP PREVIEW
HOWARD
The Bison are eager to extend their win streak after a week off. Howard (5-4-4, 4-1 NEC) enters the match after a strong performance, securing a 3-0 victory against Mercyhurst University (October 10) while continuing their impressive run in the Northeast Conference (NEC) with this latest victory.
Asia Mickens-Perez (Upper Marlboro, Md.) finding the net for her first goal of the season (fourth career goal) while newcomer
Gabriella Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.) added a penalty kick goal, also her fourth collegiate goal.
Samantha James (Herndon, Va.) earned her second goal of the season against Mercyhurst.
Under the direction of veteran head coach
Brent Leiba, who is in his 15
th season, the Bison are predicted to finish third in the preseason.
WAGNER
Wagner College (5-4-5, 4-1-1 NEC) comes into the matchup looking to improve their standing in the NEC.
This year, Deirdre Meberg, a freshman midfielder, has scored twice this season. Kayla Barbosa, the senior captain, tallied a goal on the year. Sam Hughes, a senior, has 16 career shutouts.
Wagner is projected to finish second in the NEC under the guidance of head coach Phil Casella.
LAST TIMEOUT
Thursday (Oct. 10), the Bison defeated Mercyhurst, 3-0, outshooting the Lakers, 24-3, while marking their fourth straight win.
Howard wasted no time in establishing dominance, scoring just 15 seconds into the match.
Kyra Bolden (McLean, Va.) sent a chip to midfield that connected with Garcia-Terrell, who assisted Mickens-Perez (Upper Marlboro, Md.) for her first goal of the season.
Garcia-Terrell extended the lead to 2-0 with a penalty kick 21 minutes into the second half. The Bison's offensive pressure continued as
Zoe Moore (Lutz, Fla.) delivered a corner kick that James converted, sealing the score at 3-0.
Reigning NEC Goalkeeper of the Year
Trinity Knox (Atlanta) recorded two saves, achieving her third shutout of the year.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Oct. 20, Howard returns home to host Central Connecticut State at Greene Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon.
