LORETTA, Pa. (October 13, 2024) – Howard University men's soccer team returned to action after a week-long hiatus, but unable to get back into a rhythm, falling to Northeast Conference (NEC) rival Saint Francis (SFU), 3-0, in Loretta, Pa.
Rodrigo Mendes got SFU on the board first, thanks to assists from Fabian Wagner and Alex De Nittis, 1-0.
Despite the deficit, HU kept pace with the Red Flash, but unable to capitalize on its 10 shot attempts.
At the 78-minute mark, Saint Francis extended its lead with a goal by Patrick Kierzkowski, 2-0.
With less than three minutes remaining, Wagner scored the insurance goal to put the contest out-of-reach, 3-0.

Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.) led the Bison with three shot attempts, followed by graduate
Jackson Lewis (Alexander, Va.) and rookie
Daniil Kaban (Kharkiv, Ukraine) with two attempts each in the loss.

Liam Keiller (Gaithersburg, Md.) notched five saves in a losing effort.
On Oct. 16, HU travels to Durham, N.C., to battle nationally ranked Duke. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
