Newark, N.J. (October 12, 2024) - Howard University women's swimming & diving team swam away from this year's NJIT Invitational, hosted by the Highlanders, with nine first-place finishes. The Bison accumulated 1064.5 points over the weekend (Oct. 11-12) for a runner-up finish.
The Bison were led by standout swimmer
Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.), who earned individual wins in the 100 Free (52.22), 200 Free (1:54.23) and a down-to-the-wire 500 Free (5:06.74).
Chanice Posada (Houston) dominated the backstroke events, swimming to victory in the 100 Back (56.65) and 200 Back (2:07.14).
Both, Zwaeze and Posada, were a part of the opening win Friday afternoon when they, along with teammates
Zaylie-Elizabeth Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) and
Jasmine Morgan (Chicago), posted a time of 1:44.44 in the 200 Medley Relay.
Morgan earned the top podium position after swimming the 50 Free in 23.75.

Skylar Debnam (Chandler, Ariz.) took over the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:34.46.
Thompson, Morgan, Debnam and Nwaeze closed out the weekend with a win in the 400 Medley Relay (3:33.03).
Friday (Nov. 1), the Bison travel crosstown to meet American in a dual meet. First race is slated for 6 p.m.
