HARRISONBURG, Va. (January 27, 2024) – Freshmen
Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) and
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up single victories, but the Howard University women's tennis team fell to James Madison (JMU) at the East Campus Tennis Courts in Harrisonburg, Va.
Chambers served HU in the No. 3 spot, taking down JMU's Ines Oliveira in straight sets (6-3, 6-4).
For Jean, she represented Bison Nation in the No. 6 spot, dropping James Madison's Sara Sadadinovic in two sets (6-4, 6-4).
The freshmen duo secured their first-career wins as Bison.
JMU (2-2) won the other four singles matches in straight sets.
James Madison grabbed the upper hand early in the contest, winning a pair of contests in doubles play.

Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.) served as the club's top doubles team against JMU's Oliveira and Daria Munteanu. The match was unfinished.
On February 2, HU women (0-3) battle Longwood in D.C., at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's (WTEF) East Capitol Campus. First serve at 1 p.m.
The following day (February 3), both clubs will be taking on Navy in Annapolis, Md. Match time is slated for 9 a.m.
