CLEMSON, S.C. (January 27, 2024) – Howard University men's & women's track & field program competed against tough competition at the Bob Pollock Invitational. The two-day event (Jan. 26-27) took place at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C.
Several jumpers highlighted the weekend, led by graduate
Nyagoa Bayak (Westbrook, Mass.). The Massachusetts native finished fourth in the high jump after leaping 1.70 meters (5'7").
Sophomores
Kelis Armstrong (Plano, Texas) and
Jazmyn Wajd (Tampa, Fla.) competed in the triple jump where they finished seventh (12.44 meters) and eighth (12.37 meters), respectively.
On the men's side, juniors
Kyle Fisher (Duluth, Ga.) and
Chase Drewery (Waldorf, Md.) also represented Bison Nation in the triple jump, landing seventh (15.02 meters) and eighth (14.69 meters), respectively.
On the track, senior
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) reached the 60-meter hurdles final after running a season-best non AQ time of 7.93. In the final, the Georgia took sixth overall (7.98).
Redshirt junior
Wendesen King (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) registered personal bests (PB) in the 800-meter run (1:56.95) and mile run (4:15.33).
For the women, third-year Bison
Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) notched new PBs in the mile run (5:11.51) and 3K run (10:19.77).
Friday (Feb. 2), Howard goes to Cambridge, Mass., for the Crimson Elite, hosted by Harvard University. The following day (Feb. 3), HU competes in the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational, hosted by Boston University.
