NORFOLK, Va. (January 20, 2024) – Howard University men's tennis team opened its 2024 campaign with a loss at Old Dominion (ODU), 7-0, inside the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
In doubles play, senior
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) and rookie
Michael Major, Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) served as the squad's No. 1 doubles team where they fell to No. 33 Cosme Rolland DeRavel and Jakob Cadonau, 6-2.
Senior
Hassimiyou Dieng (Dakar, Senegal) and third-year Bison
Daniel Dunac (Washington) teamed up, falling just short to ODU's Parker Collins-Flores and Aryan Saleh, 7-5.
In singles competition, newcomer
Kendrick Lash (Winston-Salem, N.C.) forced a third set against Cadonau, but came up short (4-6, 6-4, 0-1 [10-3]).
ODU won the other five singles matches in straight sets.
On Feb. 2, Howard hosts Longwood in its home opener at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's East Capitol Campus.
