SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 17, 2023) – Howard University women's soccer team extended its win streak to five after knocking off Le Moyne, 1-0, in Syracuse, N.Y.
With the victory, HU improved to 6-2-1 overall and remain unbeaten in league play (2-0).
Le Moyne (1-6-2, 0-1 NEC) outshot the Bison before intermission, 9-5, but freshman goalie
Trinity Knox (Atlanta) kept the Dolphins off the board.
With halftime looming, junior forward
Melea Earley (La Mirada, Calif.) found sophomore midfielder
Leah Williams (Ellicott City, Md.) just inside the penalty box and put HU ahead at the break, 1-0.
Howard kept the pressure on after intermission, outshooting the Dolphins, 4-2, while taking four corner kicks in the period.
Le Moyne had opportunities down the stretch, but Howard kept the Dolphins at bay.
Knox registered her second consecutive shutout, fourth of the season, while producing five saves.
For Le Moyne, Allison Moreau notched three saves in a losing effort.
On Sept. 21, HU closes out its nonconference slate against old-rival Alabama A&M. Thursday's match is Youth Day, scheduled for noon at Greene Stadium.
