ANNAPOLIS, Md. (September 1, 2023) – Howard University men's soccer team fell on the road at Navy, 6-0, Friday night in Annapolis, Md.
In nearly a ten-minute span, the Midshipmen capitalized on two free kicks from senior David Jackson (Cypress, Texas), sending headers above the reach of the Bison.
HU made multiple attempts of its own, including the third attempt of the half at the 40th minute when a promising shot by sophomore forward Christian Rufael (Washington) fell short before halftime.
The Naval Academy's Jackson managed to connect with yet another teammate for a 3-0 lead going into the half.
The Bison found themselves in foul trouble at the start of the second half. The commotion gave the Midshipmen time to net three quick goals in a six-minute span, 6-0.
Senior goalie Benjamin Hoesli (Bern, Switzerland) returned to the net, recording three saves in the first ten minutes before notching three more through 90 minutes.
Offensively, HU took four shots from four different Bison in the loss.
The Bison are back Sunday, September 3, at 7 p.m., when they face UMBC in Baltimore.
