JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 26, 2023) – Howard University men's track & field team saw its renaissance season come to an end Friday night at the NCAA East Regional on the campus of the University of North Florida.
On the night, HU had five Bison compete in a span of two events.
Graduate
Dylan Beard (Baltimore), seniors
Jermanie Byrd (Miami Gardens, Fla.) and
Ashton Daniel (Athens, Ga.) and rookie
Dylan Gaines (Houston) represented Howard in the 4x100 relay where they fell just short of advancing to Austin, posting a 40.11 time.
Florida (UF) produced the fastest relay time at 38.82.
In the field, DMV native sophomore
Chase Drewery (Waldorf, Md.) took part in the triple jump where he leaped nearly 49 feet (14.87 meters). Despite his efforts, the second-year Bison came up short in making the cut.
UF's Sean Dixon-Bodie had a season-best in the triple jump, catapulting more than 55 feet (16.89 meters).
Howard Director of Track & Field
David Oliver wrapped up his sixth season with the men's program, leading the squad to runner-up finishes during the cross country, indoor and outdoor seasons.
The men's program looks to build on this year's success as they look to compete for conference titles during the 2023-24 campaign.
