DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 30, 2023) – Howard University men's golf team sits in second place after Day One of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships, held at the LPGA International course in Daytona Beach, Fla.
In the first round, HU shot 9-over par (297) and one stroke behind LIU (296, +8).
Individually, four Bison are sitting in the top 10.
Senior
Gregory Odom Jr. (Memphis, Tenn.) is tied for second overall, recording 1-over par (73) in round one, including three birdies.
Fellow classmate
Everett Whiten Jr. (Chesapeake, Va.) round out the top five, tying for fifth with a 2-over par (74) performance.
Juniors
Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.) and
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) are tied for eighth in the player standings, producing a 75 (+3) after 18 holes of play.
Sacred Heart (SHU) stands in third place (300, +12), trailing LIU and HU. SHU's Pablo Lacayo leads Odom by two strokes (71, -1) after round one.
The action continues Monday (May 1) with the second round, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
