WASHINGTON (April 8, 2023) – Howard University senior midfielder
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrollton, Md.) recorded her first hat trick of the season, but the women's lacrosse team fell to LIU, 13-4, at Greene Stadium.
Skeete-Ridley got HU on the board first with an unassisted goal, 1-0, but LIU responded with three goals to close out the first quarter, 3-1.
In the second, LIU (6-7, 4-1 NEC) extended its advantage with four more goals and taking a 7-1 advantage into the half.
After intermission, the Sharks continued its momentum with three more goals until rookie
Berkeley Clayborne (Highland Park, Ill.) found Skeete-Ridley for the squad's second score on the afternoon, 10-2.
LIU held an 12-2 advantage early into the fourth, but back-to-back goals from Skeete-Ridley and fellow classmate
Madison Joines (Winston-Salem, N.C.) trimmed the deficit with more than 10 minutes remaining, 11-4.
LIU closed out the scoring with a goal from Lexi Odell.
Joines finished the afternoon with four ground balls and a pair of draw controls.
In the cage, junior goalie
Jada Auletta (Montclair, N.J.) registered a season-high 19 saves.
For LIU, Olivia Fantigrossi and Leah Nonnenmann each produced three points in the victory.
On April 15, HU heads to North Easton, Mass., to face off Stonehill. The match is set for 1 p.m. ET.
