NORFOLK, Va. (April 26, 2023) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its men's and women's track & field weekly honors where Howard University senior standout
Melanie White (Orlando, Fla.) received a share of Women's Track Athlete of the Week. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
At the annual Morgan Legacy (April 22), hosted by the Bears, White won the 1500-meter race with a MEAC best time of 4:36.54.
Fellow classmate
Ezra Monteiro (Newport, R.I.) earned honorable mention after placing second in the men's hammer throw at the Hopkins-Loyola Invite, tossing a league-best 51.10 meters.
Norfolk State (NSU) sophomore Mercyline Kimaiyo shared MEAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week with White. Delaware State (DSU) sophomore Annalise Bond claimed Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
On the men's side, NSU senior Kai Cole was named MEAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week while DSU junior Emperor Campbell took home Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
HU heads to the City of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia) for the prestigious Penn Relays (April 27-29).
