FAIRFIELD, Conn. (April 1, 2023) – Howard University women's lacrosse team was unable to find the back of the cage, falling to Sacred Heart (SHU), 16-0.
SHU outshot the Bison, 37-8, including 12 attempts in the second period.
Both squads were scoreless for the first 10 minutes of play until Sacred Heart's Grace Reinold registered three goals within a four-minute span to give the Pioneers an early 3-0 advantage. With under a minute left in the first period, SHU's Lydia Werlau found the back of the net to extend the lead after one, 4-0.
In the second quarter, Sacred Heart added five more goals to take a 9-0 lead into the break.
After intermission, the Pioneers' momentum continued with seven second half goals to down HU, 16-0.

Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrollton, Md.) took a team-leading four shots while rookie
Mia Wright (Atlanta) tallied three ground balls in the loss.

Jada Auletta (Montclair, N.J.) produced a match-high 10 saves.
For SHU (4-7), they remain unbeaten in league play (3-0 NEC) while extending its win streak to three. Reinold and Werlau led the Pioneers with four points apiece in the victory.
On April 8, HU returns to The District to square off against LIU. Match time is set for noon at Greene Stadium.
