BERKELEY, Calif. (March 9, 2023) – Howard University women's lacrosse team continued its spring break rodeo in Berkeley, Calif., where they fell to PAC-12 foe California, 17-1.
With the setback, HU dropped to 0-6 while the Golden Bears improved to 2-4 overall.
California scored seven first quarter goals and took a commanding lead after one, 7-0.
Midway through the second, sophomore
Kimora Williams (Marlton, N.J.) found senior
Madison Joines (Winston-Salem, N.C.) for HU's first goal of the game, 8-1.
California continued to put the pressure on, scoring four unanswered goals and taking a 12-1 advantage into halftime.
After intermission, the Golden Bears racked up five more goals.
Newcomer
Tea Vasquez (Oakland, Calif.) produced a team-leading three draw controls while senior
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrolton, Md.) added a pair of draw controls in the loss.
In the cage, junior
Jada Auletta (Monclair, N.J.) had 10 saves in a losing effort.
For California, three Golden Bears racked up three points, led by Quinnlyn Mason with three goals.
