SAN DIEGO (March 12, 2023) – Howard University senior
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrollton, Md.) scored a pair of goals, but an early deficit was too much for the squad to overcome at San Diego State (SDSU), 19-2.
With the loss, HU fell to 0-7 overall while the Aztecs improved to 4-6 on the season.
SDSU jumped out to an early 8-0 lead after one.
In the second period, San Diego State's momentum continued with four more goals until Skeete-Ridley ended the Aztecs' 12-0 run with an unassisted goal, 12-1.
With more than three minutes before intermission, Skeete-Ridley found the back of the cage again to cut the margin, 13-2, but in the waning moments, SDSU scored with five ticks before halftime, 14-2.
After the break, San Diego State continued to put the pressure on with five second half goals.

Andrea Fievre (Snellville, Ga.) and newcomer
Mia Wright (Atlanta) scooped up three ground balls apiece while rookie
Tea Vasquez (Oakland, Calif.) recorded three draw controls in the loss.
Junior goalie
Jada Auletta (Montclair, N.J.) had four saves in a losing effort.
For SDSU, Deanna Balsama registered five goals while Brook Waddell tallied nine points (eight assists & one goal) in the victory.
Saturday (March 18), HU returns to The District to face Merrimack in the league opener. Match time is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Greene Stadium.
