WASHINGTON (March 31, 2023) – Howard University sophomore Marcel Dawson (Columbus, Ga.) secured his sixth singles victory of the season, but the men's tennis team fell to crosstown rival Georgetown (GU), 6-1, at Banneker Recreation Center.
 
Dawson served as the club's No. 2 singles player, defeating the Hoyas' Kieran Foster in straight sets (7-6, 6-2).
 
Junior Hassimiyou Dieng (Dakar, Senegal) battled, but fell in three sets to GU's Derek Raskopf.
 
Georgetown would take the other four singles matches in straight sets.
 
In doubles, GU grabbed the upper hand going into singles competition after winning all three contests.
 
Saturday (April 1), the Bison travel to Baltimore to face Loyola (Md.) in a nonconference showdown. Match time is slated for noon.
