WASHINGTON (March 29, 2023) – Saint Francis University (Pa.) scored eight unanswered second half goals to defeat Howard University women's lacrosse team, 19-2, at Greene Stadium.
Saint Francis (SFU) opened the contest with seven unanswered goals until newcomer
Kendall Barker (Columbus, Ohio) found junior
Kayla Rose (Uniondale, N.Y.) for HU's first goal of the match, 7-1.
With more than five minutes before intermission, rookie
Tea Vasquez (Oakland, Calif.) scored on an unassisted goal to close the gap, 9-2. SFU would finish the half with a pair of goals and take a nine-goal lead into the break, 11-2.
After halftime, the Red Flash tallied eight unanswered goals to seal the deal.
Senior
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrollton, Md.) filled the stat sheet with three ground balls, two draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers in the loss.
In the cage, junior goalie
Jada Auletta (Montclair, N.J.) racked up a match-high 14 saves, along with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
For SFU (5-4, 1-2 NEC), Danielle Hernandez led the way with six points (four goals and two assists) and four ground balls in the victory.
On April 1, HU (0-10, 0-3 NEC) heads to Fairfield, Conn., to face off against Sacred Heart. The match is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
