MARCH 27, 2023 (March 27, 2023) – Howard University men's tennis team returned to The District after a nine-day hiatus, falling to Saint Joseph's, 4-0, at Banneker Recreation Center.
Monday's showdown was originally scheduled for Friday (March 24), but Mother Nature had other plans.
Both squads opened with doubles play where the Hawks won all evenly played matchups.
Junior
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) and sophomore
Marcel Dawson (Columbus, Ga.) served as the team's top doubles squad, falling just short to the Hawks' Inigo Diaz and Alejandro Vedri, 7-6 [4].
In singles competition, Cadeau and fellow classmate
Hassimiyou Dieng (Dakar, Senegal) led their respective matches with an early 1-0 match advantage but were unable to finish due to Saint Joseph's winning three contests beforehand.
With the loss, HU dropped to 3-8 overall while the Hawks moved to 6-4 on the season.
Friday (March 31), Howard wraps up its brief homestand against crosstown rival Georgetown. Match time is slated for 1 p.m. at Banneker Recreation Center.
