TEANECK, N.J. (March 25, 2023) – Fairleigh Dickinson (FDU) used a second half charge to down the Howard University women's lacrosse team, outscoring the Bison, 12-1, after intermission. FDU defeated HU, 21-7.
Five Bison scored in the loss, led by senior
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrollton, Md.) and sophomore
Kimora Williams (Marlton, N.J.) recording two goals each.
FDU scored the first goal of the match, but back-to-back unassisted goals from Skeete-Ridley and rookie
Chase Coleman (Houston) gave HU an early 2-1 advantage midway through the first period.
Fairleigh Dickinson responded, scoring the next three-out-of-four goals and taking a slim 4-3 edge after one.
With less than seven minutes before intermission, FDU held a four-goal lead, 7-3, until newcomer
Tea Vasquez (Oakland, Calif.) ended the run with a goal, 7-4.
Both clubs scored two goals apiece to close out the first half, 9-6.
After halftime, the Knights outscored HU, 12-1, with Williams tallying the lone goal for Howard, thanks to an assist from freshman standout
Berkeley Clayborne (Highland Park, Ill.).
Senior
Madison Joines (Winston-Salem, N.C.) filled the stat sheet, finishing with four ground balls, four caused turnovers, two draw controls and a goal.
Junior goalie
Jada Auletta (Montclair, N.J.) manufactured eight saves and three ground balls in the loss.
For the Knights (1-7, 1-1 NEC), they earned their first win in program history. Alyssa Perez registered eight points (six goals and two assists) in the victory.
On March 29, HU (0-9, 0-2 NEC) heads home to face Saint Francis University (Pa). The match is set for 3 p.m. ET.
