WASHINGTON (March 23, 2023) - Howard University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams prepare to head to Raleigh, N.C., for the annual Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State. The three-day event (March 23-25) takes place at Paul Derr Track.

Wednesday (March 22), the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its men's outdoor track & field weekly honors where a pair of Bison were acknowledged for their outstanding efforts at the 49ers Classic.

Graduate
Dylan Beard (Baltimore) won MEAC Track Athlete of the Week while second-year Bison
Eric Brown, Jr. (Raleigh, N.C.) claimed the league's Field Athlete of the Week.

Beard took home gold in the 110-meter hurdles, leading the nation with a 13.68 mark. Brown leaped a MEAC-best 14.24 meters in the men's triple jump, which ranks 48th in the country.

In the 400-meter dash, newcomer
Kiya Lawson (Montclair, N.J.) finished first with a time of 56.02, a full second above second place.

In the 400-meter hurdles, three Bison finished in the top three: freshman
Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburn, N.C./1:01.34); graduate
Cathrina Morris (Auburndale, Fla./1:02.53) and senior
Monika Williams (Denver/1:02.54).

In the hammer, senior
Erin Hatcher (Burtonsville, Md.) finished first with a throw of 52.39 meters, three meters farther than second place.
