NORFOLK, Va. (February 9, 2023) – Tickets for the 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Hall of Fame induction are now on sale and will take place Thursday (March 9) at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel (235 E Main St, Norfolk, VA 23510).
Festivities will begin with a meet-and-greet at 9:30 a.m., followed by the induction brunch at 10 a.m.
Tickets are $50 for one (1) seat and $400 for one (1) table (which seats eight).
Among this year's inductees is Howard wideout
Gary "Flea" Harrell.
Harrell made a significant impact on Howard University football team and the MEAC as both a player and a coach.
"This is truly an honor for me to represent Howard University and my teammates in this prestigious honor," said Harrell once he found out he was going into the MEAC Hall of Fame. "I owe a lot of this to Coach Steve Wilson, who not only recruited me, but helped me all along the way. He personified what a Howard man is all about and I followed that example to this day. This brings closure to this journey."
The Miami native was a four-year letterwinner as a wide receiver and punt return specialist where he started every game for Howard's legendary undefeated 1993 team. Additionally, he was a member of the MEAC championship team and Black National championship team that same season. Harrell held the program record for most career reception (184) until 2019.
Harrell also served as head coach at his alma mater from 2011-16, and he was inducted into the Howard University Hall of Fame in November 2005.
