PHILADELPHIA (February 5, 2023) – Howard University men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the young season, falling on the road at Temple, 7-0, at the University of Pennsylvania.
In doubles competition, Marin Delmas and Gregoire Barety defeated HU's top doubles squad of junior
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) and sophomore
Marcel Dawson (Columbus, Ga), 6-1.
Temple won the other two doubles match, 6-2 and 6-0, respectively.
In singles play, junior
Hassimiyou Dieng (Dakar, Senegal) battled in the No. 3 spot, but fell to Temple's Louis Gorregues in straight sets (6-2, 6-3).
Temple won the other five singles contests in straight sets.
HU returns to The District Friday (Feb. 10) to face UDC. Match time is slated for 3:45 p.m., at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's East Capitol Campus in Southeast D.C.
