VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (February 21, 2023) – Howard University women's track & field team put on a dominant performance to win their second consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Championship, held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va.

David Oliver was named the meet's Outstanding Coach after winning the program's fifth indoor crown with a new meet record (235 points).
On Championship Tuesday, the Bison had five first-place finishes.
The 4x400 relay squad, consisting of graduate
Cathrina Morris (Auburndale, Fla.), senior
Jessica Wright (Durham, N.C.) and freshmen
Kiya Lawson (Montclair, N.J.) and
Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburn, N.C.), capped off the afternoon with a victory, clocking in at 3:39.24.
Individually, Wright took gold in the 400-meter dash with a 52.70 mark. Woodruff also competed in the event where she finished runner-up (55.63), followed by Lawson (55.71), senior
Monika Williams (Denver/56.97) and newcomer
Zoe Turner (Mableton, Ga./57.05).
Wright took part in the 200-meter dash, earning third place (23.92) behind junior
Kaya-Rae Dunbar (Burtonsville, Md./23.91). Senior
De'ja Dade (Desoto, Texas), sophomore
Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.), Lawson and second-year Bison
Lamaria Washington (Miami) took fourth (24.09), fifth (24.31), seventh (24.53) and eighth (24.84), respectively.
Junior
Darci Khan (Stockbridge, Ga.) won a pair of gold medals. She placed first in the 60-meter hurdles (8.22), followed by Dunbar (8.36) and Morris (9.88).
In the 60-meter dash, the Georgia product won with a time of 7.43. Dade, Washington and Pittman earned second (7.54), third (7.55) and fifth (7.62), respectively.
Senior runner
Dasia Wilson (Philadelphia) claimed the top spot in the 800-meter run, producing a 2:11.54 time.
Other notable track performances included sophomore
Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) and
Breanna McDonald (Bethesda, Md.) grabbing second (10:48.28) and third (10:49.14), respectively, in the 3K run.
In the field events,
Ja'Tae Joyner (Bowie, Md.) and freshman
Kelis Armstrong (Plano, Texas) earned points after finishing third (12.31 meters) and sixth (11.85 meters), respectively, in the triple jump.
Norfolk State's Mercyline Kimaiyo was named MEAC Outstanding Runner while Morgan State's Tia Jackson claimed the league's Outstanding Field Athlete.
On March 4-5, several Bison will travel to Boston for the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships.
