Bison unable to slow down Bearcats

CINCINNATI (December 13, 2023) – Fifth-year guard Iyanna Warren (Accokeek, Md.) led the team in scoring for the second straight game, but it was not enough as the University of Cincinnati defeated the Howard University women's basketball team, 87-62, in a nonconference game at Fifth Third Arena.

The Bison (1-10) found themselves playing catch up, trailing 24-13 after 10 minutes and 43-26 at the half.

The Bearcats, who have now won four in a row, rode the scoring of Jillian Hayes, who led all scorers with 10 of her points in the first half while teammates Braylan Miller and Meklea Williams each scored eight points.

Warren scored a team-high 11 points while also contributing six assists.

Junior guard Nyla Cooper (Fayetteville, N.C.) scored 10 points, sophomore forward Nile Miller (Haddonfield, N.J.) with 10 points and five rebounds and freshman guard Janyah Bohanon (Cleveland) tallied nine points and five rebounds off the bench.

Team-leading scorer redshirt freshman guard Tyana Walker (Leawood, Kan.) made only one of 10 shots for two points. She came into the game averaging 12 points per game.

The Bearcats were led by Hayes with 20 points, followed by Braylan Miller (17), Melea Williams (16) and Reagan Jackson (10).
