PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 18, 2023) – Big Ten Rutgers (4-1) shot over 54-percent (32-of-59) from the field, including a scorching 59-percent (17-of-29) after intermission, to down the Howard University men's basketball team, 85-63, inside Jersey Mike's Arena.
Three Bison reached double figures in scoring, led by junior sharpshooter
Marcus Dockery (Washington) with a team-leading 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-7 from long range.
HU (2-3) jumped out to an early 11-4 advantage after reigning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week junior

Rutgers battled back and took its first lead of the game, thanks to a trey ball from Noah Fernandes, with 9:41 remaining before halftime, 16-14.
From that point on, the Scarlett Knights took control and held a nine-point advantage at the break, 39-31.
After intermission, Dockery drilled a long ball and pulled the Bison within four, 49-45, at the 13:02 mark. But HU was unable to get over the hump.
Rutgers extended the lead back to double-digits with less than nine minutes left, 67-53, and never looked back.
Harris flirted with a double-double (12 points & eight rebounds) while graduate forward
Seth Towns (Columbus, Ohio) notched 10 points and five boards off the bench.
For Rutgers, Derek Simpson led all scorers with 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting while Clifford Omoruyi produced a double-double (15 points & 14 rebounds) in the win.
Monday (Nov. 20), Howard continues its road swing in Smithfield, R.I. against Bryant. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
