WASHINGTON (October 27, 2023) – Howard University women's swimming & diving team dropped a close bout to crosstown rival American, 116-107, inside Burr Gym Pool.
Overall, the Bison earned six first-place finishes.
Senior
Michaela Spears (Chicago) led HU with three victories, including a pair of individual wins in the 200 IM (2:10.37) and 200 Back (2:25.26).
Spears, alongside sophomore
Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.) and rookies
Jasmine Morgan (Chicago) and
Chanice Posada (Houston), claimed victory in the 200 Medley Relay, clocking in at 1:32.51.
Nwaeze also won the 200 Free, registering a 1:54.46 mark.
Posada teamed with sophomores
Samyra Benoit (Santa Clarita, Calif.),
Skylar Debnam (Chandler, Ariz.) and
Kali Green (Altomonte, Fla.) in the 200 Free Relay, finishing in first place with a 1:32.97 time.
Third-year Bison
Jordynn Connell (Flower Mound, Texas) earned gold in the 1-meter dive, scoring 208.55 points.
On Nov. 11, Howard goes to Lexington, Va., for a quad meet, hosted by the VMI Keydets. First race is scheduled for 1 p.m.
