WASHINGTON (October 26, 2023) – Howard University men's soccer team came up short against Sacred Heart (SHU), 2-0, at Greene Stadium.
Despite outshooting the Pioneers, 9-7, and earning more corner kick opportunities, 6-4, HU was unable to capitalize.
At the 20-minute mark, Javier Lopez Cayuela got SHU on the board, thanks to an assist from Mattias Dick, 1-0.
Nearly throughout the contest, both squads were in a stalemate until late into the second period.
Off the bench, Asa Moskowitz found Ethan Kilmnick for the insurance goal to knock off HU, 2-0.
Offensively, second-year Bison
Chayton Kiudlan (St. Mary's, Md.) took a team-leading three shots while fellow classmate and D.C. native
Christian Rufael added a pair of attempts.
Senior goalkeeper
Benjamin Hoesli (Bern, Switzerland) registered two saves in the loss.
Sunday (Oct. 29), Howard goes to New Britain, Conn., to face Central Connecticut State in its final road contest. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
