ROCKVILLE, Md. (October 16, 2023) – Howard University men's golf team took sixth overall at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, hosted by the Hoyas. The two-day, 54-hole event was played at the Woodmont Country Club (par-72, 7,385 yards) in Rockville, Md.
Graduate
C.M. Mixon (Bowling Green, Ky.) led the Bison with his first top 10 finish of the season, tying for sixth in the player leaderboard (217, +1). During the tournament, the Kentucky native racked up 10 birdies while shooting even par (72) in rounds one and three.
Fellow classmates
Gregory Odom Jr. (Memphis) and
Everett Whiten Jr. (Chesapeake, Va.) rounded out the top 30, each finishing tied for 29
th overall (229, +13).
Collectively, HU shot 43-over par (907), including 12-over par (300) during the opening round.
Florida (UF) won the 2023 Georgetown Intercollegiate, shooting even par (864) throughout the event. Loyola (Md.) finished 17 strokes behind the Gators for second place (881, +17).
UF's Matthew Kress won the individual title with a 211 (-5), including 3-under par (69) in the final round. Teammates Tyler Wilkes and Jack Turner, alongside Loyola's Jackson Roman and Columbia's Nathan Han finished tied for second overall, recording 215 (-1) during the tourney.
On Oct. 19-21, Howard goes to Bethlehem, Pa., for the Lehigh Invitational.
