WASHINGTON (October 11, 2023) - In order to get to know the team a bit better, the Howard University women's basketball team sat down with its student-athletes and asked a series of questions to each class about themselves, life, their interests and more!
 
Our final, fantastic, freshman newcomer is Taleiyah Gibbs, a guard from Charleston, S.C.
 
Q: What made you choose Howard?
A: After my visit, I knew it was the place that I wanted to continue my playing career.
 
Q: What are you most looking forward to about college life?
A: I am looking forward to living my dreams.
 
Q: What's the best advice a coach has given you?
A: The best advice a coach has given me was, "You can't wear a crown with your head
down, so always keep it up."
 
Q: What do you believe you can bring to the team in your first season, on or off the
court?
A: I can be a hard worker and someone that is willing to go the extra mile for my team.
 
Q: What's the best advice a coach has given you?
A: The best advice a coach has given me is do not try to be the best, just be the best version of you.
 
Q: What three words best describe you?
A: The three words that describe me are calm, tenacious and kind.
 
Q: What three things you would like to accomplish during your freshman year?
A: I want to do well in my classes, bring something to the team and make friends outside of
basketball.
 
Q: What's your favorite place in the world? 🌎
A: My favorite places in the world is home and the basketball court.
 
Q: What tv show are you currently binge watching? 📺
A: Currently, I am binge watching Suits.
 
Q: What song would make the best theme music for you? 🎶
A: The best theme song for me is Blood, sweat, tears – Future.
 
Q: If money were no object, what would you do? 💰
A: I would get my mom everything she's ever wanted or take her out somewhere.
 
Q: What quote most resonates with you?
A: The top of a mountain is the bottom of another, keep climbing and do not be complacent.
 
Q: Should pineapple go on pizza? 🍕
A: No (lol).

A: I would say a lion or leopard, but not for the reasons you think (lol).
