ANNAPOLIS, Md. (October 1, 2023) – Howard University women's golf team closed out the weekend with a third-place finish at the Navy Fall Invitational, hosted by the Mids. The two-day event took place at Naval Academy Golf Course (par-72, 6,084 yards).
In the final round, HU shot a tournament-best 302 (+14). After 36 holes, the Bison recorded 620 (+44) and move up five slots.
All-NEC selection junior
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas) shot 5-over par (77) on day two with three birdies. After two rounds, the Texas native finished 7-over par (151) and tied for fifth overall.
Reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year sophomore
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles) produced a 71 (-1) after round two. She closed out the weekend shooting 9-over par (153) in days two, tying for eighth in the leaderboard.
Second-year Bison
Morgan Horrell (Dallas) tied for 22
nd (156, +12) while junior
Jada Richardson (Suwanee, Ga.) placed tied for 35
th (160, +16).
Navy won the invitational after shooting 31-over par (607), six strokes better than Towson (613, +37).
Individually, Navy's Mara Hirthe took the top spot with a 2-over par (146) performance in two rounds. Towson's Madison Barber finished runner-up, recording 3-over par (147).
On Oct. 9-10, selected individuals will travel to Dallas for the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. The two-day event takes place at the Trinity Forest Golf Club.
