NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (October 1, 2023) – Howard University men's soccer team wrapped up its season-long eight-match road swing with a 6-0 loss at Merrimack (MC).
 
MC's Laurie Goddard put on a performance, delivering hat trick within a five-minute span (9', 13' & 15') and giving the Warriors a commanding 3-0 lead.
 
At the 20-minute mark, Juri Schlingmann scored the squad's fourth goal and gave MC (3-4-1, 1-1 NEC) a 4-0 halftime advantage.
 
Moments after intermission, Liam Ziegler produced an unassisted goal to extend the margin, 5-0.
 
With time dwindling, Merrimack's Ian Macklin recorded MC's sixth goal of the day, 6-0.
 
DMV native senior Peter Gansallo (Bowie, Md.) had a team-leading three shot attempts while, defensively, fellow classmate goalie Benjamin Hoesli (Bern, Switzerland) notched seven saves in the loss.
 
On Oct. 8, Howard hosts Stonehill in its home opener. Match time is slated for 1 p.m., at Greene Stadium.
