BALTIMORE (September 8, 2022) – Howard University women's soccer team wrapped up its road swing with a 2-0 loss at Loyola (Md.).
HU held possession for majority of the contest while taking seven shots as a team. Sophomore forward
Kyra Bolden (McLean, Va.) led the way with three shot attempts.
Howard (0-4-1) outshot Loyola, 5-2, in the first 45 minutes of action, but unable to get on the board.
Loyola (3-3-1) gained the momentum after intermission, outshooting the Bison, 5-2.
At the 69-minute mark, Olivia Quaranta found Baylee DeSmit and put the Greyhounds ahead, 1-0.
With less than 10 minutes remaining, Sarah Mirr scored on an unassisted goal over the outstretched hands of junior goalkeeper
Kennedy Jones (Flossmoor, Ill.) and put the contest out-of-reach, 2-0.
Jones finished the night with three saves in a losing effort.
For Loyola, goalkeeper Sim Paige registered her fourth shutout of the season while racking up a pair of saves in the win.
HU returns home Sunday (Sept. 11) to start a three-match home stand versus crosstown rival George Washington. Match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
