WASHINGTON (September 15, 2022) – Howard University women's soccer team fell in the conference opener versus Fairleigh Dickinson (FDU), 3-1, at Greene Stadium.
In the first half, both squads were unable to score until FDU's Franziska Theus put the Knights ahead before intermission, 1-0.
Moments after halftime, the Knights' Madelyn Robbins found Aitana Martinez-Montoya and extended the margin, 2-0.
With less than 10 minutes remaining, Martinez-Montoya added an insurance goal on a penalty kick, 3-0.
Down, but not out, sophomore
Rachel Asare (Tampa, Fla.) ended the Bison's scoring drought at the 86-minute mark.

Nyla Allen (Elmont, N.Y.) and second-year Bison
Zoe Moore (Tampa, Fla.) led the way with two shots apiece.
Junior goalkeeper
Kennedy Jones (Flossmoor, Ill.) racked up eight saves in the loss.
Sunday (Sept. 18), HU faces Merrimack in another Northeast Conference bout. Match time is set for 11 a.m. at Greene Stadium.
