Analise De La Roca (San Pedro, Calif.) threw a complete-game shutout and kept the Howard University softball team's title hopes alive as HU defeated top-seeded Morgan State (MSU), 5-0, at NSU Softball Field.
De La Roca earned her 14
th win of the season, tossing seven innings while striking out four batters in the victory.
With the win, Howard forced a winner-take-all bout against the Lady Bears. Saturday's (May 14) contest is slated for 5 p.m. and will be streamed live on the
MEAC Digital Network via YouTube.
After three scoreless innings, HU tallied four runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run single up-the-middle by All-MEAC selection
Camille Navarro (Los Angeles).
From the point, De La Roca kept the Lady Bears guessing at the bat while allowing only three hits in the contest.
Offensively, HU tallied five runs on 12 hits with four Bison registering multi-hit performances.
For MSU (31-14), they saw their 16-game win streak come to a halt.
