ANNAPOLIS, Md. (April 9, 2022) – Howard University men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a road loss at Navy, 7-0, at the United States Naval Academy Tennis Courts.
With the setback, HU dropped to 5-7 while the Mids improved to an impressive 21-10 on the season.
Freshmen duo
Tory Bailey (Los Angeles) and
Marcel Dawson (Midland, Ga.) led the way with a doubles victory over Navy's Nicholas Nguyen and William Pak (6-3).
Despite the win, Navy took the other two doubles match by identical scores (6-0).
In singles play, second-year Bison
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) served as the team's No. 1 singles player where he dropped a tough contest to Navy's Sasha Panyan in three sets (7-5, 2-6, 1-0 [10-2]).
D.C. native freshman
Daniel Dunac also lost a three-set match to the Mids' Conners O'Brien (6-3, 4-6, 1-0 [10-8]).
Navy won the other four singles matches in straight sets.
On April 28-30, the Bison travel to Cary, N.C., for the Mid-Easten Athletic Conference Championships.
