WASHINGTON (April 23, 2022) – Howard University women's lacrosse team fell behind early and were unable to recover, falling to Wagner (WC), 20-4, on Senior Day.
WC (7-9, 5-2 NEC) scored 11 times in the opening frame and took a commanding 11-1 advantage after one. Graduate
Lailah Robey (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) scored the Bison's lone goal in the first period.
Wagner added three more goals in the second quarter, but junior
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrollton, Md.) closed the half with an unassisted goal and cut the margin to 12 before intermission, 14-2.
WC tallied a pair of goals after the break, but Skeete-Ridley scored her second goal on the day and trimmed the deficit, 16-3. Wagner recorded another goal and held a 17-3 lead after three frames.
Skeete-Ridley registered her 18
th goal of the year moments in the fourth, but Wagner finished the contest with three consecutive goals.
Katie Siverson had eight draw controls, four goals and a pair of ground balls in the Seahawks' victory.
Before the contest, Howard recognized four Bison their hard work and dedication to the program: Robey;
Kaila Abrams (Derry, N.H.);
Andrea Fievre (Snellville, Ga.) and
Sydney Saunders (Baltimore).
Wednesday (April 27), HU (1-14, 0-6 NEC) closes its home slate versus Mount St. Mary's (Md.) Match time is set for 3 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
