WASHINGTON (April 2, 2022) – Howard University men's tennis team fell to rival Morgan State (MSU), 6-1, on Senior Day at Banneker Recreation Center.
Despite the setback, HU (5-6- 3-2 MEAC) secured its first winning season in league play since 2013.
Freshman
Tory Bailey (Los Angeles) picked up Howard's lone point in the match, serving as the club's No. 2 singles player and defeating MSU's Makkijha Brown in straight sets (6-2, 7-6).
Senior
Kyle Martin (Kingston, Jamaica) competed in his final home match at The Mecca where he lost a hard, fought bout against Morgan State's Sebastian Lopez in three sets (6-7, 6-3, 5-10).
MSU won all three doubles match.
Martin was recognized before the contest for his hard work and dedication to the program, receiving gifts from Howard Director of Tennis
Nicholas Askew, family and friends.
On April 9, the Bison face Navy in Annapolis, Md. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
